Diet Tips: Thyroid, Breathing and Exercise

Notes from the interviews of the Origins Summit  This is not a transcript but cliff notes of the answers from the interviews. The speakers are doctors, nutritionists and experts in their field of health that practice functional medicine. Stress – metal, emotional, physical (from chemicals and processed food), and arcadian rhythms (sleep patterns) all effect your digestion.

The food you eat changes what flora is in your gut, change the food change the flora.

Sympathetic and parasympathetic rhythm can be reset by using an old yogi technique called alternate nostril technique. This helps regulate bowel movement. Most powerful when done 90 minutes after waking, you should see less cramping and bloating, less heartburn and better bowel movements.

Take a minute to do deep abdominal breathing out as far as you can then exhale as far as you can.

Progressive muscle relaxation in the evening at bedtime in dark, cool room. Hold your breath for a few seconds and release, starting with your feet progressively work your way up the body tightening and relaxing each muscle ending with your head and arms.

Clear detox pathways, unclog by getting metals out.
We may not be a fertile species in another decade or so.
Prefrontal Cortex effected which effects decision making, can’t think straight.
Blood test better than hair test for metals.

The Thyroid is our thermostat and regulates burning calories.
It needs iodine, low iodine allows it to store heavy metals.

Most thyroid disease is autoimmune

Has seen tens of thousands of patients in his clinics and runs his own studies.

1 clear pathways should take a few days to a couple weeks
2 cell regeneration 2-3 months

Disease is a symptom of an underlying problem

Conventional medicine does not work for chronic disease only good for acute and emergency.

Not getting quality sleep or sunlight can cause your body to store fat
Use full spectrum light bulbs, get out into nature, finish off with cold water in the shower for a few minutes, educate yourself and test for exactly what YOU need.

The number one toxin is sugar. Sugar, gluten and dairy are drugs to our brain.
It is cheaper to eat whole foods than processed food.
Avoid foods with ingredient panels.

Sugar feeds bad bugs in your gut and creates havoc with hormones. Fructose goes right to liver causing fatty liver in children. Sugar creates fat.
Skim milk is very bad it triggers insulin when you pull the fat out.

You have to decide you want to get to where you want to be and do it. Stop waiting for someone else to do it for you, specifically the doctor and your health.

It’s time to learn about you.

Cured his own degenerative bone/spine disease with food after years of doctor’s saying nothing can be done.

Once you make the decision to get well you start to see your options and opportunities.

No milk, eat greens and vegetables. Hated vegetables couldn’t eat them so I juiced and after a while the veggies tasted great as his palate changed. Spirulina is great.

Movement critical for help in healing.

Do dead lifts for back problems
Walking/movement speeds up healing of bones
Smaller reps of heavy weights better than longer lighter that makes you bulk out.
Treadmill is bad it releases cortisol that breaks down muscle tissue and stores fat.
Working out especially sports and loading up on carbs is wrong.
